Hey y’all! The weather is getting warmer, school is almost out, and we’re all looking forward to a long Memorial Day weekend at the end of May. But how can we really celebrate and appreciate the women and men who gave their time, talent, and most importantly their lives for us? There are so many creative ways to show your support, especially if you aren’t comfortable in large group events. We may be vaccinated but that doesn’t mean we want to be around people just yet! Check out our list of resources to see how you can show your support!

1. Shop at a veteran owned business
Patronizing veteran owned businesses is an amazing way to show your support this Memorial Day. This Veteran Owned Business site is a directory to find businesses near you, or you can order online!
2. Sign petitions for our veterans!
Sign. Those. Petitions. Change starts here! So many veterans come back to the States and are met with a housing crisis, unemployment, medical distress, and more. Not to mention the emotional toll that being a service member can take on you. Linked below are just a few places that you can go to sign petitions to increase disabled veterans benefits, protect veterans from malpractice, and more.
3. Sign petitions for PTSD research
More petitions! SO many Americans are plagued by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and the depression/anxiety that follows. Getting legislation passed that funds research could provide much needed relief to veterans. You can sign here. Mental health is a part of overall health, and it needs to be treated as such.
4. Memorial Day concert
This Memorial Day concert will be livestreamed by PBS and it includes an all-star lineup of musicians and hosts alike. Sara Bareilles, Steve Buscemi, Kathy Baker, and a series of United States Military ensembles will gather to show their appreciation for the women and men who fought and died for our freedom.
5. Listen to veteran’s stories
Lastly, listen. Their stories deserve to be heard, and we deserve to learn from the mistakes of America’s past. Don’t let these people’s sacrifice go to waste.
Well, folks, I hope you found a new and meaningful way to celebrate this Memorial Day. And, if you happen to be headed to the beach this Memorial Day weekend, use code SUMMER10 for 10% off your whole order on our Proven Shark Repellent!
